ABOUT JUDGE WILCOX
Matt Wilcox is a career public servant, veteran, and Hennepin County resident seeking to continue his service as a judge in Minnesota's Fourth Judicial District. With a broad background in both criminal and civil law, he brings a unique perspective shaped by personal experiences as a child impacted by the legal system, his service as an overseas GWOT veteran, his time as both a prosecutor and public defense attorney, as well as his commitment to fair, ethical justice. Matt was selected by Governor Tim Walz to fill a judicial vacancy in May of 2025 after being twice advanced as a finalist by the non-partisan commission on judicial selection. The Commission consists of both lawyers and nonlawyers and is tasked with finding exceptionally well-qualified, even-tempered, and fair-minded public servants to fill these critical roles. Matt has humbly served in this role and would be honored to continue presiding over cases in Hennepin County District Court for a full term. Matt and his wife, Kelly, are raising two young children and are deeply rooted in the community. He understands the critical impact the judicial system has on our neighborhoods and will work each day to strengthen the public trust in the judiciary.
